Haha After MIA for 9 months, Im BACK! haha

There are just so many better and interesting things to do than sitting down writing a post.

These 9 months have been busy and lots of shits.

There wasn't a single day in these 9 months I have the time sitting in front of the computer for more than an hour because of works from uni.

Then during the 3 months summer break, i was working in an archi firm in Miri. I finished working just 1 week before CNY and spent that whole week and another CNY week with all my buddies.

That 2 weeks were FUCKING FUN!!

I will update everything in the past 9 months slowly.

I'm home for about 3 weeks now.
My car is still in workshop
I'm leaving for KL next weekend and hopefully my car can be done by next week
At least let me drive few days before i leave and come back again 4 months later.

My car is 70% done now.
I'll post the final color of my car next week, hopefully!
Cant wait! hehe

Winter Break Project

Since Im having winter break now and I have nothing to do, so my next project will be my car.
I know you guys are wondering how did i send my car to the workshop while I'm still in Perth.
Well, thanks to my dad :) hehe

This time round, I'll completely change the look of my car.
I wont tel what Im gonna do.
Just wait for my update mid of July.
Its gonna take around 1 month to do everything.

Owh, poor baby.

My bonnet cutting job is completed!
Im giving a tip, Im installing RS tail lights that require the cutting of my bonnet.

Dents are fixed.

Cant wait to get it done n see how it looks like.

Final Folio

Sunrise is beautiful, isn't it?
Yea, i stayed up everyday just to see the beautiful sunrise.
YA RIGHT!!
I've never even seen a sunrise when i was in secondary school, what to say when i was in KL.
But things are different in Uni, especially doing Architecture. Staying up late till morning, seeing sunrise, 3 hours nap in the noon, seeing sunset, and next thing you know, its another sunrise again. But, it doesn't mean i don't like it. Im enjoying every bit of it.

So, there was 1 and a half week for final folio.
It was about designing a Photography Centre to promote arts of photography in Perth and also as an iconic building that could bring life and activities into the site.

I spent 4 days on Autocad drawings to get my plans, sections, elevations and laser cutting layout done. Things might look simple here, but actually its not.

Thank God for laser cutter. Last year i cut and made all my models with my own hand which needed at least 2 days to complete.
But this year, things were done by laser cutter that cuts perfectly in less than half an hour time.
What i need to do was sticking parts together like puzzle.

Again, it looks simple. But I had difficulties too. For example joining and sticking this tiny staircase.
Its impossible for me to cut them without machine.

At 10am, i went home for a 3 hours nap.

Window frames as gutters and columns were done at 5.36pm.
Final touch was the blue transparent perspex and was the hardest part.
It took me hours to get them done.

When i finished my model, it was already Tuesday night. I only had Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning to finish my drawings which was a bit impossible.
So without wasting time, i started my drawings right after.

I did my drawings quite rushly because of the time left.
I was supposed to render most of my drawings but because time passed so fast that just a snap, it was Friday already.
I only managed to render 2 drawings at the very last minute before submission.

The End of Semester 1

Im done with Semester 1 of this year and what's next?
7 WEEKS BREAK!

I only had an average of 3 hours of sleep a day for the past week. I stayed in uni till 9am and went home for a nap till 12pm. At 1 pm, I went back to uni and stay till the next day 9am again. I've been doing that everyday for the past week.
What i can say is, Im really exhausted.
However, i actually had fun designing, drafting, rendering, and model making for my final folio despite having so little sleep.
Most importantly, everything was paid off after my teacher said, 'you've done a good job, Yeehow. You came up with a great scheme'.
OMG....
the feeling was like, RELIEF. ORGASM. TIRED but HAPPY.
Your mind is so tired and couldn't think of anything else but his COMPLIMENT.
Even you sleep, you dream of his compliment and smile.

After all, i hope he didn't say it just to please me or he said that to everyone.
I just want a HD.

Last week when i walked into the exhibition hall and there were a few beautiful models so i photographed them. They were the works of students from 1st year to 4th year.

Colors of my life
So bright, so clear and so beautiful.

Baby woke me up and forced me to walk her to uni to do her assignment in the cold afternoon

We seem to miss bus most of the time
It was 11pm and we had to wait for 1 hour for the next bus.
There you go, Il-gelato's ice-cream that kept us accompanied for an hour.

Baby followed me to Kings Park for my 2nd project's site visit.

And now I'm working on my Digital Design and Final Folio which is due on the 23rd May and 6th June.

Last night was Sophie's restaurant's opening night in Fremantle.

Obviously, the restaurant is called NOEL.

After the dinner, we went to watch 'Ironman' in Fremantle.
It was good but I still prefer 'Transformer' though.

Car show by Chonda, Jasper and Alan. That's their Subaru and Civic with their new rims and HID headlights.

It was 12am and nobody felt like going home yet. So, we walked around Fremantle to look for a public toilet because my brother is calling for pee pee. We spent like an hour in Fremantle just talking shits and stuffs.

At around 1am something, we decided to go Northbridge for bubble tea and luckily we were in time for it. Drinking bubble tea here makes me miss bubble tea at home so much. We got home at around 3am and that's where car talks began. Had so much fun talking bout car modifications but i miss my car so much back home :(

It was a relaxing Saturday night.

2nd Project

Here's my 2nd project

Building a small botanical station at Kings Park with a toilet, a bedroom for 1 or 2 person, a kitchen/dining area and a study area. The building has to be sustainable-no electricity and no water- and at the same time has to work during summer/winter.

1. Sunlight and wind directions were experimented in this project.

2. The surrounding trees and sun angles were examined carefully to create shadow during summer
to minimize the heating of the house and allow sunlight during winter to maximize the
heating of the house.
3. The walls and windows were located according to the wind received during winter and summer
to create and maximize air ventilation in the interior space.
4. The structure is heavily designed with timber and glass as they are cheaper and more
sustainable compare to concrete.
5. Plants on the roof top to cool of the roof as plants are 5-6 degrees below surrounding temperature.
Hot air rises, cools down by the roof and descends as cooler air.
This creates air ventilation.

Highlight of the Week

It was Yuri's birthday last night

Happy 19th Birthday Yuri

She invited all of us archi chumzz to her party at Onyx Bar near city. The bar was not bad. At least something new and not METRO METRO METRO all the time. I didn't drink much though. I only had a Corona and B52. It wasn't the usual me i know. Cause I'm seriously broke now.
And Alcohol is not good for health..

Overall, the party was okay except we didn't know all of Yuri's friends.

So that was the highlight of my 1 week break. I've done nothing productive except sleeping, eating, watching movies and shopping with Carol. The end of my break means the beginning of 2nd half of semester. Things gonna be more tough so there will be another 6-7 sleepless weeks.
After this 6-7 weeks, hopefully i can see my buddies back in KL and Miri.

2nd Year of Architecture

Currently, I'm having a much-needed 1 week mid-term break.

2nd year is tougher than 1st year i must say. I have more sleepless nights than I did last year. It's only 1st half of the semester. 1st HALF OF SEMESTER and they were only minor projects -_-
I have more major projects after the break.

By the way, I would like to show you guys my 1st and 2nd studio projects.

Project 1

In architecture, the simplest project is actually the hardest.
The project was about reusing a site where there was a house sitting on it decades ago. What's left now is only the base of the house.
The project was also about 90% site and 10% architecture which means the existing base should be left untouched and how architecture and the site could be integrated to enhance 'connected-ness' between people and landscape (this was the hardest part).
What added to the difficulties of this project were the considerations of the history context of the site, the geometry of the landscape and the sunlight and wind direction. All these elements should be combined and celebrated in the design.
Honestly, I didn't do quite well in it. What was missing is the connection between the design and the site.
I got only 10/15 and im not satisfy with it.
